Strong Conservative Leadership Is Moving Missouri Forward As we reach the midpoint of the legislative session, I want to highlight the progress we’ve made in advancing the conservative policies that keep Missouri strong. It’s an honor to serve in the Senate, and I’m proud to stand alongside my colleagues as we work to protect our citizens, strengthen our economy and uphold our values. Public safety has been a top priority this session, and Senate conservatives have taken decisive action to restore law and order. One of the most significant steps we’ve taken is returning control of the St. Louis Police Department to a citizen-led board with state oversight, removing sole political control from the mayor of St. Louis, through House Bill 495. This is similar to the structure we have in Kansas City. Our law enforcement officers deserve the ability to do their jobs without political interference. We’ve also passed measures to crack down on crime. This includes holding fentanyl dealers accountable—especially those who prey on children—and implementing procedures to deport criminal illegal immigrants who break the law. Missourians deserve safe neighborhoods, and we’re sending a clear message: criminals will be held accountable in our state. Another key focus of the Senate is protecting Missouri’s children. The Senate passed Senate Bill 10, which, among many other sunset provisions, permanently bans gender reassignment surgeries for minors and ensures that women’s sports remain fair by preventing biological men from competing against women athletes. I believe kids should not be subjected to life-altering medical procedures, and young women deserve a level playing field in athletics. These are common-sense policies that I believe reflect the values of Missouri families. In addition to public safety, we are working to make Missouri a better place to do business. Frivolous lawsuits drive up costs for consumers and employers, which is why we passed tort reform to prevent class action lawsuits from overwhelming our legal system through Senate Bill 47. We’re also defending the First Amendment religious liberties of students on college campuses by passing Senate Bill 160, ensuring no one faces discrimination for their faith. While passing conservative policies has been our main priority, we’ve also worked to ensure the governor has the team he needs to lead Missouri forward. I’m pleased to report that the Senate has confirmed all of the governor’s cabinet appointments. These individuals will bring principled leadership to state government and help move our state in the right direction. The success we’ve had this session proves what we can accomplish when we work together. With a united conservative majority in the Senate, we’ve advanced bold, conservative policies that make Missouri safer, stronger and more prosperous. When we focus on our shared principles and work as a team, we can deliver real results for the people who elected us. The governor’s leadership, along with the strong partnership between the Senate and House, has set the tone for a productive session—and we’re just getting started. By staying united and focused on our priorities, we will continue to move Missouri forward. If you want to hear more, you can visit senate.mo.gov/Media/NewsDetails/1783 to hear my audio podcast.
