Celebrating Cities in the District Hello! I hope you are having a wonderful week. In this report, I wanted to recognize a few places in the district that I think deserve statewide recognition.
The first is Waverly which is home to apple orchards over a hundred years old. The city loves their apples, theming food and judging the best state apple every year at their Waverly Apple Jubilee. Since they’re already the self-declared apple capital of Missouri, I wanted to make it official and filed Senate Bill 673 to make the city of Waverly the official Apple Capital of Missouri! I believe it recognizes the heritage and hard work of the people in this community and will hopefully drive tourism to the area as well.
The second is Concordia. They have created some absolutely stunning murals including the largest painting of the United States flag in the state, a freedom of the press printing press, a B-2 Bomber and the USS Missouri Battleship. I filed Senate Bill 674, making Concordia the official Patriotic Mural City of Missouri! One step closer to their goal of being the Patriotic Mural City of the United States.
I enjoyed taking the time to share some of this more fun legislation this week. Let me know if you have any questions.
