Senator Tony Luetkemeyer Announces Winner of 2025 Senate Student Fine Arts Exhibit

JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Tony Luetkemeyer, R-Parkville, is proud to announce that Andrea Garcia, a 12th-grade student at Park Hill South High School, has been selected as the winner from Senate District 34 for the 2025 Senate Student Fine Arts Exhibit.

Art ExhibitSenator Luetkemeyer presents award to Andrea Garcia.Andrea’s artwork, “The Last Moments of Heidi,” will be displayed in the Missouri Senate hallway as part of this year’s exhibit, which recognizes outstanding student artists from across the state. The exhibit provides a unique opportunity for student artwork to be showcased in the Capitol, highlighting the creativity and artistic achievement of Missouri’s young talent.

Her piece is a heartfelt tribute to her rescue dog, Heidi, capturing the final moments they shared together. The artwork reflects the artist’s experience of deep gratitude and heartbreak as she said goodbye to a beloved companion. Created using Prismacolor, the drawing emphasizes fine details, from Heidi’s graying eyelashes to the red band around her arm, preserving every memory through art.

“The Senate Student Fine Arts Exhibit is a wonderful tradition that celebrates the artistic talents of Missouri students,” said Sen. Luetkemeyer. “Andrea Garcia’s work is not only technically impressive, but also emotionally powerful. I’m proud to have her represent our district in this year’s exhibit.”

Andrea and the other selected student artists from across Missouri will be recognized at an awards ceremony at the Missouri State Capitol on April 10, 2025.
