Missouri Boards and Commissions Hello! This week, I would like to talk with you about the various Missouri Boards and Commissions.
In Missouri, there are there are 187 different boards and commissions each with multiple members. They cover topics including education, agriculture, taxes, construction, therapy, child abuse, water and a multitude of other important subjects and needs of the state. What most people don’t know is the process by which someone is appointed to one of these boards and commissions.
The selection process starts with an application. The governor has encouraged Missouri citizens who are qualified to apply for gubernatorial appointments to boards and commissions. Then the governor will select who he feels is best for the job and fulfills the requirements for the position. The appointee then has to be confirmed by the Senate.
I encourage anyone in the district who is interested in helping shape Missouri to go online and visit boards.mo.gov to see what is available and apply if there is a position you feel you can serve in.
Speaking of which, I had the great honor of sponsoring Brian Strider from Hardin who the governor appointed to the Missouri Agricultural and Small Business Development Authority. He was confirmed this week.
Please feel free to contact my office at 573-751-4302. For information about my committee assignments or sponsored legislation, please visit my official Missouri Senate website at senate.mo.gov/KurtisGregory. Senator Kurtis Gregory stands with Brian Strider and the governor. |
