Budget Talks

Hello from your favorite Senator Angela Mosley!

This year’s session draws to a close in just two weeks. This time of year becomes very busy with passing the budget and finishing up any bills we hope to get to the governor’s desk.

I am happy to say the Senate successfully passed its version of the budget this week which leaves us with some time to hold discussions with the Missouri House of Representatives and come to a final agreement by the end of next week. For me, the top priority in the budget process is looking out for my district and seeing how I can help uplift our community and have our needs met.

I have also spent much of my time fighting against bills that would repeal parts of Proposition A and Amendment 3, which voters approved in the last election. Proposition A increased the minimum wage and established a right to sick leave for employees. Meanwhile, Amendment 3 established woman’s right to make the decisions regarding their own body and allowed abortions be performed in Missouri. I think both of these changes are important because of what they do for people, but also because the voters chose them. The General Assembly should not spend its time fighting against the will of the people.

Finally, I have attached information for a number of events happening in our community and encourage you to attend to help build ties between one another.
