Senator Sandy Crawford Thanks Governor for Signing Priority Legislation

JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Sandy Crawford, R-Buffalo, announced today the first legislative bill to be filed for the 2025 regular legislative session has been signed into law.

“I want to thank the governor for signing Senate Bill 1 into law. I believe this new law will help several county officials, including public administrators, auditors and coroners. I also want to thank my colleagues in both the Missouri Senate and House of Representatives for getting this over the legislative finish line before session ends.  Senate Bill 1 will become law on Aug. 28, 2025.

“These specific provisions were part of a much larger bill passed in 2022. The Missouri Supreme Court later declared it unconstitutional by violating Missouri’s single-subject requirement, not on the merits of what was in the bill. We were able to put together new wording on this, which means it is cleared to take effect later this year. I am happy to see we could help these county officials not only in my district, but throughout our state.”
