Back to School

Hello! I hope you are enjoying your summer so far. It is hard to believe, but it is already time to start thinking about back to school preparation. There are a few back to school events in our community happening soon that I wanted to share with you.

  • 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, July 26 - Affinia Healthcare, 2220 Lemp Ave., 63104
  • 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 2 - Affinia Healthcare, 3396 Pershall Road, Ferguson, 63135*
  • 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 9 - Affinia Healthcare, 1717 Biddle St., 63106

Attendees can receive physicals and immunizations, Medicaid application assistance, free haircuts and face painting, and free school supplies (while supplies last). The events are free and open to the community. Walk-ins are welcome; no appointment is necessary.

 

*Please note that physicals or immunizations will not be available at the Aug. 2 event in Ferguson. Parents can call 314-814-8700 to schedule an appointment for physicals or immunization on a different date at Ferguson or visit one of the other back to school event dates. All other services and offerings will be available on Aug. 2.


Tornado Relief

The People’s Health Center is hosting a tornado relief and resource fair on Aug. 23 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 5701 Delmar Blvd., St. Louis, 63112. Housing and homeless supplies will be available, as well as hygiene and personal items. There will also be behavioral health assessments, health screenings and health insurance assistance. Limited school supplies will also be handed out on a first come, first served basis. The child must be present to receive the supplies. 


Additionally, limited hotel vouchers will be handed out. You must bring a photo ID, address of damaged property and proof that the property was damaged by the May 16 tornado (either with a yellow or red sticker). Qualifying zip codes are 63108, 63112, 63113, 63115, 63110, 63107, 63105 and 63117.

 

The first 350 people will receive a $50 gift card. You must be 18 or older, bring a valid photo ID and complete an HIV mouth swab.
